even though i never got to meet steve in person and get to know him, i will always remember him for his passion and his enthusiasm that he had when he was doing his job or working with animals. he was and still is my role model, he strived to teach people more about the world around them and what they could do to preserve it for the future. hes done many great things for australia and the rest of the world, and i honor him for that. i watched all of his shows, and when i heard that he had died on monday i was so shocked because i would have never thought that he would die so soon and young in age. i was actually at a cross country meet when i heard the news from my parents because they knew i was a HUGE and i mean HUGE fan of steve...and i cried. i pray that his family will make it through this tragedy with hope. and i hope that his kids will be alright. but most of all i really hope that every single person who knew steve or even just watched his shows will always remember him for what he did, and for the love and passion he put towards his work and animals, and he never lost hope or sight of what he was doing. basically he was my "hero" and im just really sad that i never got the chance to meet him in person.

When I tuned in to animal planet to watch steve with all the incredible thing that he did with his passion for it and the love to nature. I was shocked to hear his tragic&udden death! especially to know that he died because of the stingray! not with the crocodile. I love animals! but with what happened to steve, i'l have to admit that I felt an anger to his cause of death!(stingray) my heart goes out to steve's wife and 2 kids! steve will be forever missed! and will not be forgotten!

How can it be that a man I have never met in person has had such a personal effect on me. How is it that a man who's hand I have never shook has grabbed me so strongly. I feel like I was in it with him, that I was part of what he was doing. How many people will it take to pickup the ball of conservation that he has handed off to us.
The answers to these questions are beyond my simple understanding, but taking action is not. What would Steve have wanted me to do? The answer is GET TO WORK, SAVING WILDLIFE. So lets go. If you read this start thinking about how you can make a difference. Volunteer at a zoo, spend some time showing your kids some of the local animals near your home, pick an animal and learn everything you can about it, then tell others all about it. Steve is gone for now but we need to keep speaking for the animals. LETS GET GOING. Terri, Bindi, Bob from our family to yours we love you.
